The Doll’s Festival is one of the traditional festivities in Japan. More specifically, it is one of the seasonal festival. It is held on March 3rd also known as Momo-no sekku or peach festival. It celebrates girls to grow healthier and the doll’s festival has a second name called “hina- ninngyo asobi”. The history of Hina-matsuri is “hina asobi” which used paper doll to play among elite children in Heian period.
The dolls depict the imperial court in Heian period, especially wedding. The clothes they wear is the clothes which elite people were only allowed to wear.
The top row represents the Imperial Palace. The make doll is the emperor and the women doll is the empress.

Negishi and Iriya retain a number of long-established shops and artisans who observe their traditions. Many places in these two areas have escaped war damage and therefore visitors can enjoy the atmosphere of traditional shitamachi landscape.
Let me begin with Nippori Station for today’s walk. Nippori Station is one of those stations where Narita Sky Access has extended their services to, making Nippori Station a gate to the city center from Narita Airport.
Getting out of the east exit and headed to Uguisudani Station, you will see “Habutae Dango”, a dango (boiled or steamed ball of rice flour) shop established in 1819. Great writers including Natsume Soseki and Masaoka Shiki were famous repeat customers.
