The Saihouji, which can be defined as a Buddhist pure land temple, is called Kokedera. Within the precincts of the temple there have been reports of over 100 different kinds of moss hanging moss. The green moss that is used in the garden further enhances the beauty of nature.

To pray at the Saihouji a reservation needs to be made ahead of time. It takes about a month and one week for the subscription post to make its way to the temple and then back to you. The time that was decided on this day was at 13:00. They are very strict about time, so we made sure to check in by our reserved time.

The Rakunan of Kyoto is located on the southern side of Kyoto station. Within the Uji area, where Uji Byodoin is in the center, and the area in which the Tofuku temple is the center, are the two main areas worth visiting.
This time we will introduce the areas where Tofuku temple is located at the center, and where you can enjoy viewing the various fall colors.
Tofuku temple is located at one of the five mountains in Kyoto. While walking on the pedestrian walkway from the station to Tofuku temple, you can look up to the Tsutenkaku. Tourists pointed out this sight, appearing to be in awe to the beauty.


To the right side of the temple entrance is the Sanmon, which is said to be Japan’s oldest remains. It is tremendously large, and was built in the 1400’s.
