Bakurocho Walking guideBakurocho. Bakurocho’s “Bakuro” means a person that sells or procures horses and cattle. Bakurocho is said to be originated from this word. It may be that this town used to be prosperous with people selling or buying the horses and cattle.
So let’s start exploring from JR Bakurocho station.
The Tenshi-no-hane Ransel building is a store that handles Ransels (school bags). A Ransel is a bag that Japanese elementary children carry on their backs. It is an expensive bag that costs up to 20000~30000yen. In Europe the Japanese original Ransel are popular goods.

Kyoto Gion Tempura Yasaka EndoYou can enjoy the freshest tempura in Kyoto Gion which is only available at the Yasaka Endo, a traditional store which has been open for 80 years. With Kyoto’s rare tea ceremony arbor styles, you can enjoy the atmosphere of Kyoto while enjoying Kyoto vegetables.
Within the restaurant there are counters and tatami style seating. On the day we visited we enjoyed out meal in one of the private rooms. There were foreign language menus for tourist, and we heard that many tourists enjoy sitting at the counter where they can watch as the vegetables are fried.
Todays course is the “aoi” course, which include 13 tempura dishes.

Kyoto Arashiyama tourist guideKyoto is one of the most famous tourist spots in Japan. There is an area called Rakusei, which is an area where a lot of world heritage is preserved and collected. Kinkaku temple, Arashiyama, Katsurarikyu, and Takao are some of the most famouse attractions, which draw both Japanese and foreign tourists year round..
Togetsukyo, a famous bridge, is said to be Arashiyama’s symbol. The Sakura (cherry blossoms) that bloom in the spring and leaves which change colors during autumn, can be seen and enjoyed from Togetsukyo. The view is spectacular. You can actually enjoy the scenery of all four seasons, and the snowflakes during the winter are quite a sight as well.
The Togetsuki bridge, which is often seen often in movies and television dramas, Is 155 meters long.
