Bakurocho. Bakurocho’s “Bakuro” means a person that sells or procures horses and cattle. Bakurocho is said to be originated from this word. It may be that this town used to be prosperous with people selling or buying the horses and cattle.

So let’s start exploring from JR Bakurocho station.

The Tenshi-no-hane Ransel building is a store that handles Ransels (school bags). A Ransel is a bag that Japanese elementary children carry on their backs. It is an expensive bag that costs up to 20000~30000yen. In Europe the Japanese original Ransel are popular goods.

Next we went to a store called Nito Towel. Because Bakurocho is a town of wholesale stores there are many different shops.

Next is the Yagenbori-fudoin. It is one of the top 3 Edo real estates. The top 3 Edo real estates are of Yagenbori-fudoin, Meguro-fudo, and Mejiro-fudo. The Yagenbori-fudoin is the Tokyo separate state of the famous Kawasaki great teacher.

Inside of the temple is a guide to the hand-copying of the sutras. This activity is to hand-copy the sutras from Buddhism.

Also, when entering the temple, be sure to wash your hands beforehand. Officially, you first wash your left hand first, then your right hand. After you leave a small amount of water on the left hand, and drink the water, after sipping without making a sound, spit it back out while hiding your left hand. You cannot directly place your mouth onto the dipper.

At the temple the Kagome’s vegetable juice that the Japanese people love was decorated.

This is a written fortune. There is Daikichi, Chukichi, Shokichi, Kichi, Kyou and so on. The Daikichi is the luckiest, then Chukichi, Shokichi and so on. This time I got a Daikichi, 3rd one since last year. Based on this written fortune it seems that on can give a safe birth.

We continued going towards the Tamaki drug store. The Tamaki drug store is considered a nation appointed important cultural properties. The wall on the side is a pretty flesh color, and the front side you can see that the wall is dark black. This is when the Tokyo bombing occurred the front side became dirty from the incendiary shells, and the side wall was safe due to the other buildings.

In fact, inside of the Tamaki drug store general restricts photos, so for those that visit please be careful.

This is the Kaosan Tokyo Ninja guesthouse. With its low prices of 2200yen~ and easy accessibility it is very popular for foreigners.

Sparrow Photo that is the only place that handles Deardoff in the country. Does everyone know about films? In our time, it is mostly digital cameras that are being used. But this store you can enjoy the fascinations of not digital, but the analogs special qualities.

The store owner of this store will even guide tourists visiting in a friendly manner. Also, other than the camera they will tell you other stuff as well. In fact the cameraman the store owner respects the most is Sebastião Salgado.

Next we will introduce the Agata Takezawa building. This building is unique and has a lot of stores for women.

Next is Ajino-ichiban, a chinese cuisine. Because it is located in a neighborhood, a lot of people in the area visit often. It is famous for being delicious with a very common person’s price. It is a popular store in the area. Comparably it is very prosperous with people in the higher age range. At lunch it is 800~ and at night roughly 5000yen per person.

In the show window in front of the store there is a picture frame with “Nihongo-ryoku” (Japanese strength) decorated. Bakurocho is a wholesale shop town in which you can see the traditional Japan rather than a tourist spot. It can be said that it is an interesting place to enjoy another side of Japan other than Asakusa, Ginza, or Shibuya and so on. It is very unique with ransel, camera film stores. It may be fun to visit a place like Bakurocho sometime.
