The “Yamadaka Jindai Cherry blossom” is counted to be one of the three largest cherry blossoms in Japan. It is known for its longest living, it is estimated to live up to 2000 years.

Yamadaka Jindai cherry blossom is 10.3m high, the circumference of the trunk is 11.3m. The wild Edo Prunus subhirtella Miq. In the Taisho period, the Yamadaka Jindai cherry blossom became the country-chosen natural monument number one.

At one time the cherry blossom lost its vigor, however currently it is beginning to bring back the energy due to the effort by the cherry blossom community.

In legends, the myth- Yamato Takeruno Mikoto says that the cherry blossoms were planted due to the occasion when the soldiers were heading east, that is the origin of its name.

The “Yamadaka Jindai cherry blossom” is located in the precincts of the Jisso temple. In the Jisso Temple there are other numerous cherry blossoms, and those who visit enjoy watching them.

Same with the cherry blossoms, 80,000 Narcissus blossom, the contrast of the yellow colors near your feet and the light pink colors above your head is very pretty.
