Rusutsu Resort is one of the largest resort facilities in Hokkaido. During the winter season, the powder snow stacks up creating a great slope. Compared to NISEKO, there are fewer visitors so it is a recommended place to ski or snowboard.

The location is good too since you can access within an hour and half from Shin-Chitose Airport and Sapporo City by bus.

The skiing ground lies over three mountains, West.Mt, East.Mt, and Mt.Isola.

There are total of 37 runs, total of 42km in length, and can carry 31,200 people every hour and is the number one in Hokkaido in these three quality. Also there are four gondolas and has the most number of gondolas owned by a single skiing ground.

In 2008, the Toyako Summit was held. The hotel was used for press conference for the chairman and the prime minister and as a media center for staffs.

A huge lobby.

Rusutsu Resort was the first skiing ground in Japan to be selected as the “BEST SMALL RESORT Award 2008” in a English ski magazine “The Great Skiing & Snowboarding Guide”. I personally recommend this resort as the best place to ski in Japan.

You can have fun at amusement park and pool; enjoy tennis and golf during the summer season. Also, there are many other outdoor activities such as rafting, canoe touring, fishing, riding hot air balloon, and horseback riding as well.
