Meguro Walking Guide
Reading time: About 3 minutes
Meguro Walking GuideThis time is the walking guide of Meguro, a fusion of a fancy city and a residential area.
I’m going to introduce the West side of Meguro station.
First is the Meguro Gajoen which you can find after 5 or 6 minute walk from the west exit. It was primarily built as a high class restaurant but later on, beauty salons, photo rooms, and wedding halls were included and has proposed a new system for the time.
The refreshing wind chime was at the entrance.
As I walked further, walls that are decorated with gorgeous sculptures continue.
There is also a garden so just walking in the building is really enjoying.
This place is like Ryugu-jo!
It would be such a delight if you can have a wedding in such a great place.
Next I will leave Gajoen and cross Meguro River. This Meguro River becomes filled with cherry blossom in the spring.
After a short walk, you can find the Meguro Parasitological Museum.
Welcome to the one and only museum of parasites in the world.
People visit this place to see scary things. It is also famous as a date spot.
Visitors can intertact with a world we usually won’t understand and the entrance fee is free so it is a place you can visit easily. Please try visiting if you have any interests or want to see scary things.
Next I visited Kanto region’s oldest Fudou Reijo, Meguro Fudouson which is one of Japan’s 3 largest Fudou.
The inner part of the quiet grounds is like a forest.
A unique guardian was standing right at the entrance of the grounds.
Unlike the regular guardians with strong expressions this one is a smart guardian with a calm expression. There is a small dog sitting looking up to the guadian. It is very cute.
After going through the guardians and walking inside, there is the Fudou Myouou.
Pouring water on it with the ladle is the way to visit this shrine. Although its expressions are aggressive, it takes away are bad luck so it must be nice.
I found another statue of a dog. It seems like its family is gathering and it is very cute.
I got to the main temple as I climbed the stairs. It is a colorful temple mainly colored with red. The imposing appearance is great.
Taking photos of the inside was prohibited so I just visited.
This is it for Part 1 Walking Guide for Meguro.
Although there are a large area of quiet residence area, there are many spots too look at. I would like to introduce the posh city Meguro again.
