The 2011 SPRING SUMMER Tokyo Girl’s Collection (TGC)The 2011 SPRING SUMMER Tokyo Girl’s Collection (TGC), the world’s largest fashion festival, took place on March 5th.
With its theme, “real clothes of Japan to the world”, this fashion event has been held twice every year since August 2008. In this distinct fashion festival, popular models from fashion magazines appear on the runway and all the clothing worn in the show can be purchased from mobile phones.
The theme of this 12th fashion festival was Tokyo Romantic Fever. Taking in feminine designs and outlines which is this season’s latest trend, it delivers a message for each and every girl to shine brightly with passion like flowers in full bloom.
The festival consist of shows that take place separately on four different stages, the Trend stage, Designer stage, Elegance stage, and the Select stage, with an addition of the special highlight stage. Show contents cover a wide variety of fashion category allowing a display of all of Japan’s real clothes. There are also limited edition fashion items of this event collaborating with different fashion brands that can only be found at their official shopping site are available for purchase.
Finally, the main feature of TGC is the booths set up by various companies. Many women were found around the booth area before the shows began to examine and try on the latest products before everyone else. This time around, they included booths by Nails Unique providing free gel nail services and another by Essentials where many had their hair dressed with curling irons.
Especially successful was the booth by JILL STUART. Many women were forming a long line for the sample bottles of the perfume which will go on sale in April that were being handed out. A show with originality was presented on the fashion stage created by the collaboration made possible with their handling of both fashion and cosmetics while packing in the latest trend.
The bag of samples given out at the exit of the festival hall is also a point of attraction. Even if one couldn’t look at all the booths, the samples in the bag are enough to satisfy.
An afterparty of TGC with the collaboration with Okinawa, one of the best beach resorts in Japan, will be held on March 13. Additionally, a show in Beijing is also scheduled for May 17. It is the first time for it to be held for the general public outside of Japan. TGC will remain worthy of attention, now with its enthusiasm for advancement into countries abroad.
