A famous soba noodle restaurant in Kagurazaka. From the outside of the restaurant, you can see that the soba is stone-milled.

Since the sauce has strong taste, be careful not to dip the noodles too much. A good soba store has different noodle but the sauce is different as well. The sauce here is delicious, rich in taste. There is not many chance of encountering a sauce like this one.

The picture is large serving.

The soba is one amazing dish. The noodles have good texture and flavor. It will be better to put the wasabi directly to the noodles instead of putting it in the sauce.

Personally, I was surprised by the tenpura. On the picture from the left are anago (sea eel), shishito, maitake mushroom, and eggplant. The crunchy batter around soft anago is very good. Since the batter is thin, the tenpura is not too oily and does not leave heavy stomach. Lastly, if you drink up the sauce with green onion and grated radish, you will become full, enjoy the difference in taste and be satisfied.

Kyoraku-tei’s tenpura is better eaten with salt than the sauce.

At this restaurant you can enjoy full course, having tenpura with Japanese sake, then soba, and lastly finishing up with soba sauce (sobayu). The tenpura is amazingly delicious and is highly recommended.
