In the vicinity of the lake shores at the foot of Mount Fuji are various sights to see, including caves, museums, tennis courts, etc. This article is different than the previously introduced “Driving around the foot of Mount Fuji,” and deals mainly with the sightseeing spots located around the five lakes at the foot of Mount Fuji.

There is a group of mountain water springs called Oshino Hakkai near the beautiful Yamanakako Lake. On days with good weather it is common to see rainbow trout swimming around.

It takes approximately 80 years of filtration for the snow on top of Mt. Fuji to melt and be redirected to one of these water springs. Having become a natural monument, they have also been selected as one of the “top 100 famous water sources” and the “top 100 new Fuji sceneries.”

The water’s transparency level is very high, reflecting the outer surface like a mirror.

The area is a well-known tourist spot, where many sightseers come to look at the mysterious and natural beauty of this phenomenon. The only unfortunate thing is, due to the complete touristation of the surroundings, with shops and facilities geared towards tourists, it is no longer possible to fully enjoy the natural environment the way it normally should be.

After seeing the sights at Oshino, we headed next to Kawaguchiko Lake. Surrounded by the beauty of nature, you can spend time doing recreational activities such as tennis, baseball, soccer, fishing, etc.

To get rid of our fatigue from the day’s activities, we decided to loosen up by playing a few rounds of tennis.

There are vegetable fields nearby, where tomatoes, cucumber, eggplant, and corn were being grown.

After our game of tennis, we headed over to the rental villa, “Herbal Memory Kawaguchiko,” where we planned to stay for the night. This villa was located ideally in a place where we could gaze up at Mount Fuji and down at Kawaguchiko Lake. As long as you bring your own food, inside is a kitchen with tableware and a barbeque, making for an enjoyable stay.

There is a large supermarket near the lake, so it is easy to stock up on food the day of to enjoy a barbeque, etc.
