21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art, Kanazawa21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art, Kanazawa, is Japan’s leading museum of contemporary art which opened in 2004 and 1.5million people visited in one year.
It is no exaggeration to say that the whole museum is a large art. The art works that were made with the museum is also a space where people can view from the inside.

A work that allows the natural light, people inside and outside the work to interact. The most popular work in 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art, Kanazawa.
■”The man who measures the clouds”
This work is by a Dutch artist, Jan Fabre, where he made in shape of his twin brother and dedicated to his brother after his death.

Upon creating this work, Michael Lin stayed in Kanazawa and visited studios and studies the history and methods of Kaga Yuzen. The flower design drawn fills the walls of the resting area of the museum. It is a work which is full of energy.
A role as a “Machi no Hiroba” (Town Plaza) is expected for the 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art, Kanazawa, in ways such as education, creation, entertainment, and a place for communication. Therefore, except for the museum area in the center, the cafes and libraries are open freely for the citizens and tourists.
As a period exhibition, “Inner Voices – Uchinaru Koe” and “Silent Echo Collection II” were held.
Inner Voices focuses on female artists born after 1960 and displays works with the theme of their inner voices while seeing the difficulties of life and their possibilities.
This year’s “Kanazawa Wakamono Yume Challenge Art Program” gave attention to foreign artists for the first time. An art project was held by inviting a young artist that lives in Britain, Peter McDonald.

Art related books and goods can be bought in the shops inside.
Various art works are also placed outside the museum and is combined with a park so anyone can enjoy.
Special exhibition are held and the collections on display change over time so it can be understood that it is Japan’s leading museum with a high repeater rate.
