The world’s biggest word of mouth traveling site “TripAdvisor(R)” announced the top 20 “most popular foreign tourists spots in Japan” based on the ratings posted by foreign tourists on the site (https://www.tripadvisor.jp/HotSpotsJapan). In 1st place is Hiroshima prefecture’s Miyajima (Ikushima temple) that is also registered in the World Heritage Convention, also in 2nd place Hiroshima prefecture’s Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum (also known as the A-bomb dome) were chosen.

At TripAdvisor(R), the review posted are calculated in a principle axis of a five level ranking, the rankings were amounted by how satisfied foreign tourists were with the tourist spots. As a result, in 1st and 2nd place, both the Miyajima (Ikushima temple) in the World Heritage Convention and Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum (also known as the A-bomb dome) were chosen. The word for Miyajima that got 1st place had 5 star ranking from almost all tourists, comments such as “one of the most beautiful places on land”, “a breathtaking and absolutely beautiful landscape”. Along with the temples and the traditional appearance to the front to the back, the beautiful nature on the island was all rated well. 2nd place Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum (also known as the A-bomb dome), has been chosen 1st place ranking among the tourists from America; there has been comments such as “It was an experience that changed my life”, “I am grateful that the “A-bomb dome is still here”, “I believe all children (of course adults too) must see the displays in the museum”.

In the rankings, 12 facilities among the top 20 which were temples/shrines and historical spots such as castles etc were chosen. Separated within areas, Kyoto has the most 5 facilities, following with Tokyo 4 facilities, and Hiroshima and Nagano followed with 2 facilities. Up to the “Popular rankings” the “Tsukiji market” had always been chosen (1st place in 2009 & 2nd place in 2010); it has a lot of posts, however because it’s post are divided into both good and bad, in the overall ranking it dropped below 20th place (10th place in Europe’s ranking). Surprisingly instead, the “Jigokutani-yaen kouen” in Nagano prefecture, and the ” Arashiyama monkey park Iwatayama ” in Kyoto 府 the 2 facilities where you can see the Japanese monkeys were chosen high in rank.
