2010 Fall Colored Leaves Tour in Kyoto Part3Third day
Although it does not have much colored leaves, Kinkaku-ji cannot be left behind for a trip to Kyoto. Recently the gold foil have been changed so the brightness of the gold shines in the morning sun.
Kinkaku-ji was founded in 142. The balance of the temple and the garden taking an image of the Pure Land is great.
This season is the only time you can see the Kinkaku-ji with colored leaves.
The next place is Kodai-ji. It has a different feel from yesterday’s light up at night. Kodai-ji is famous for the garden where you can enjoy difference of each season.
It is noted for scenic beauty and during spring and fall, the garden will be lit up.
I walked to Kyoto Shijo from Kodai-ji and now is lunch time. Today I will have lunch at Kikunoi, a restaurant that received two stars in Michelin Guide. It is located alog Takase-gawa River. They serve Kaiseki cuisine but is free from the traditional Kyoto cuisine.
For more information about Kikunoi click here.
When the sun starts to set, stores begin to light up creating a good atmosphere.
Today I will go to Shoren-in’s light up. The dignified chisenkaiyushiki garden and the whole precincts of the temple is being lit.
Blue star light in front of Shinden.
The light up of colored leaves and bamboo forest.
Since the light will be on until late, from 18:00 to 22:00, it would be better to go late at night to avoid the crowd.
