Haneda Airport New Terminal for International Flights has openedOn October 21st, a new international terminal has opened at Haneda airport. Although the actual name of Haneda airport is Tokyo International Airport, after Narita airport started business, most of the international flights were shifted to Narita. Therefore, this day was an important day for Haneda.
The terminal building opened at four in the morning. According to a media, there were local people who waited for the four o’clock opening. Past five in the morning, the first train of Tokyo Monorail and Keikyu Line arrived. Outside is still dark with shower of rain but the time of awakening has come.
The first flight arriving was ANA’s plane from Hong Kong at 5:45. The boarding bridge has no ramps, which is first in the world, having universal design in mind.
At 6:20 an opening ceremony was held and many media and people gather to see the event. A memento was passed out after it.
At 8:20, the first flight JAL’s plane for Seoul departed.
There were several ceremonies held at airlines and railway companies on the opening day. There were many people besides the actual user to just for touring purpose.
Until October 30th, there will only be lines as usual such as flight for Seoul, but starting October 31st when the winter schedule begins, new flights connecting 17 cities all over the world including the west will start.
Haneda Airport has better access to Tokyo city than Narita, and it is clear that the access to connecting flight to other cities in Japan is better. There is no doubt that the users will increase and perhaps foreigners will use Haneda as well.
