2010 Shikoku Trip, the Sixth day, Shimanto River
Reading time: About 2 minutes
2010 Shikoku Trip, the Sixth day, Shimanto RiverSo-called Japan’s last clear stream, Shimanto River. You can enjoy this great nature of Shikoku by playing on the river or kayaking. It’s 3 hours of drive away from Koichi City, and is almost a completely different world from the din and bustle of the city.
I’m camping tonight and need to get food for the dinner tonight. The downstream of the river is close to the sea, so I could get some fresh fish.
If you want to enjoy yourself on the Shimanto River, I recommand the Kuroson River, a branch from Shimanto. The water barely flows and is abundant in fish, so children and those who don’t swim can also play with no big concerns.
It seems shallow, but it could get as deep as 5 to 10meters. If you are not good at swimming, you should wear a life jacket.
Children are also enjoying themselves. They swim well, seem to be local children.
My friend is also having a fun.

You can fish a lot here even with small fishing equipment. I used salmon roes and grains of rice as baits and a little bit surprisingly, the grains worked out better.

I’m camping at this “Kyanpuno-sato Kawarakko” tonight. They welcome beginners for canoeing and this place is equipped with bathrooms and shower rooms.
First, I set up my tents.
Skipjack tuna sashimi that I bought this morning at a market.
Camping can’t go without barbecue. Meat and vegetables grilled with charcoal fire are absolutely good.
He’s playing with charcoal fire. You shouldn’t do it.
