2010 Traveling Shikoku the Fifth day, Anan, Tokushima to Muroto Cape to Kochi
Reading time: About 2 minutes
2010 Traveling Shikoku the Fifth day, Anan, Tokushima to Muroto Cape to KochiI woke up early this morning, and went on a whale watching. In the Kochi sea were about 50 whales and dolphins, and you have a good chance to see them.
Riding with anticipation.
They told me they saw whales yesterday, but I didn’t get to see one even after 2 hours of cruising. They said that there is more than 80% of possibility to see whales or dolphins.
Muroto cape is famous for its deep sea water, rocky promenade, scenery, and food with brand vegetables. You can see the view of Muroto cape and steep rocks along the coast.
Muroto lighthouse equipped with the biggest lenses in Japan.
A temple near the lighthouse.
This big stone is called a “bell stone” because it sounds like a bell when you hit it with a stone.
I returned to Kochi and arrived at the famous “Harimaya bridge”. This bridge is said to be one of the biggest disappointing tourist sites in Japan, so even when you visit Kochi, you don’t really need to see it.
A very small bridge.
Also I met Hello Kitty.
At this “Café de Amelie” near the bridge, they decorate your favorite design on cappuccino.
I had them draw “tosaken”, the famous local dog in Shikoku.
Sakamoto Ryoma, native of Kochi, is the theme of the current NHK drama. You can see the statue of Ryoma on the hill of a beach extending through the Pacific Ocean.
I was really overwhelmed by the beauty of Keihin. The contrast of the sea of blue and pine grove of green creates an impressive view, making it one of the biggest tourist sites in Kochi.
Every fan of Ryoma visits his statue. Ryoma is from Kochi and is famous for its leading role at the end of the Edo period. Though he was a ronin, a jobless samurai, many people respect him for his ambitious and energetic actions at the dawn of the new era in Japan.
