2010 Shikoku area Second Day Dogo Onsen – Shikoku Karst – KouchiDuring the morning walk, we encountered a streetcar repair.
The Matsuyama-jo can be seen from the Matsuyama Park.
The first destination is Dogo Onsen. Dogo Onsen has a history of over 3000 years and even Shotoku Taishi and the emperor bath in this hot spring.
You can choose from 4 different course. This time we chose the 2nd to most expensive one “Tama no Yu NIkaiseki”. You can go in the Rei no Yu and use the resting spot on the second floor.
This day was extremely hot mid summer day but the wind blowing through the bamboo blind was cool. This is the changing room for the Rei no Yu.
Since it was on the weekdays, there were hardly any people at the Rei no Yu. The marble stone used for the tub added to the elegant feel.
After you get out of the bath, you get candy and tea.
After relaxing at the bath, we head to Shikoku Karst. It takeds 2 and a half hour drive from Ehime. Shikoku Karst is a huge grassland spreading across the border of Kouchi and Ehime being 1200-1500m above sea level.
Finally it got cool at this height.
There are limestones everywhere looking like a flock of sheep.
Cattles are put out to pasture.
The weather was getting bad and you could see some sunlight coming out between the clouds.
Today we finished after reaching Kouchi. It was a day of driving. For dinner we had the number one chopped raw Skipjack(Katsuo) at Kuroson, famous for fresh fish food.
Tomorrow we will go to Tokushima from Kouchi.
