Komazawa Park WalkThe Komazawa Park is the perfect place to jog or take a walk. Going to the gym or pool is alright, but going to the park on a nice day to do some cycling is even better. With plans and flowers in the area, the peacefulness of nature in the middle of the city can probably be called an oasis in the desert.
There is plenty of new greenery in the current season, making for a pleasant walk or run.
Komazawa Park is officially called the “Komazawa Olympic Park,” named for when it was opened in 1964 for the Tokyo Olympics.
Starting with women’s volleyball, which took the gold medal, wrestling, hockey, soccer, and other sports were competed here.
The park has a lengthy 3.2km long cycling course inside, as well as bicycle playgrounds for children
Inside the large grounds are a track-and-field stadium, a baseball stadium, a pool, tennis courts, and other recreational facilities. In summer the pool becomes crowded with families with small children, and weekends make for a lively atmosphere.
The park is taking an active part is keeping the harmony of the scenery in the Setagaya district, and has planted over 7500 trees, from 121 species, in the park.
A day in the park starts out with people jogging, walking, and doing calisthenics.
Around noon groups of young people use the park for recreation, along with many other people.
