Japanese people who have lived their lives experiencing the four seasons are said to have very sensitive and pure senses.

Due to being surrounded by beautiful nature, Japan’s unique senses have been born, and the traditional colors of Japan have formed the colors of the natural world. These colors are completely different than those of European countries. Japanese people enjoy sensing these slight differences within these unique colors.

BLANC ET NOIR Floral Deco. is a design team made up of a husband and wife unit where the wife uses the flowers in her designs and her husband acts as the concept director. They create flower arrangements with the concept of “A quality life, with quality flowers”.

The concept director, Shinichi Tanaka, has a rather unique background.
He originally worked in the world of finance where all he was doing was moving money from left to right.

His feelings towards work were poor, and he was hungry for more. He wanted to create, to be able to actually hand something important to the customer. He yearned to start his own flower store or restaurant.

The flowers created at BLANC ET NOIR Floral Deco can be enjoyed by using our flowers five senses.
When this husband and wife team go to the markets to buy flowers, they make sure to not choose homogenized flowers, but instead chose those with strange coloring and subtle nuances. Due to this, an arrangement in which a detailed gradation is expressed was born.

They don’t only use flowers in their creations, they also utilize mint and herbs, creating a unique bouquet in which you can also enjoy its scent. If the flowers are packed into a box for shipping, then from the moment you open the box the smell of the flowers and herbs will disperse all at once.

Within Japan’s floral market there seem to be flowers which have been imported from abroad, and also those based on roses they seem to only use the Japanese ones. Roses from oversea are big, with bright, bold colors. These large, bold flowers of which are not very good for small, detailed expressions.

Their creation is often seen as not wholly that of a traditional Japanese flower arrangement, but more of an extended version of a western flower arrangement. Yet due to the small details they use, utilizing various colors and subtle expressions, allows people to enjoy these flowers with all five senses. This is said to be a very Japanese style creation. Using all of these aspects of beauty and human senses, their style is quite amazing.

At BLANC ET NOIR Floral Deco it is not their way to make “a flower that is just nice to have”, but rather to make an arrangement that the customer asks for. While imagining the customer, they think of ways to surprise and make the customer happy.

When giving the flowers to the customer by hand, they take special care to offer great service to whomever the customer is. For example, if the customer is a female, they teach her how to hold the flowers in a very appealing way..

The husband and wife team of BLANC ET NOIR Floral Deco say that in the future they would like to create a project which expresses the world view of the colors of Tale of Genji.
